How to Apply & Care for Your Stickers
Get the most out of your Nimbus Novelty vinyl stickers with these application tips and care instructions.
1. Surface Preparation
A clean surface is the single most important factor for a sticker that stays put. Wipe down the area with rubbing alcohol or soap and water, then dry it completely before applying.
Best surfaces
- Laptops and laptop cases
- Water bottles and tumblers
- Car bumpers and windows
- Phone cases
- Notebooks and planners
- Windows and mirrors
Surfaces to avoid
- Heavily textured surfaces
- Fabric and clothing
- Unsealed or raw wood
2. How to Apply
Peel
Peel the sticker from the backing at a 45-degree angle. Try not to touch the adhesive side.
Position
Place the sticker carefully where you want it. Vinyl stickers are repositionable for a few seconds, so you have a brief window to adjust.
Press
Press firmly from the center outward to push out air bubbles. Use a credit card edge or squeegee to smooth out any remaining bubbles.
Heat (optional)
For curved surfaces like water bottles or helmets, use a hair dryer on low heat to help the vinyl conform to the shape.
3. Removing Stickers
- Heat the sticker with a hair dryer for about 30 seconds to loosen the adhesive.
- Peel slowly at a low angle, pulling the sticker back on itself rather than straight up.
- Clean any remaining residue with rubbing alcohol or an adhesive remover.
4. Care & Longevity
Our stickers are made from premium vinyl that is waterproof, UV-resistant, and dishwasher safe. With a little care they will look great for years.
- Hand washing is preferred for maximum longevity on water bottles and tumblers.
- Avoid pressure washers and abrasive scrubbers directly on the sticker.
- Outdoor lifespan: 3-5 years with normal sun and weather exposure.
- Indoor lifespan: 5+ years on laptops, notebooks, and other indoor surfaces.
5. Pro Tips
- Apply in room temperature (60-80 °F / 15-27 °C) for the best adhesion.
- Wait 24 hours before exposing a newly applied sticker to water.
- Layer stickers for a custom collage look -- overlap edges or arrange in clusters.
- Small air bubbles often disappear on their own within 24-48 hours.
